In appreciation of our patrons and our community, the Clayton-Liberty Township Public Library is now FINE FREE!

What does that mean for you?  Beginning February 11, 2021, any item that you check out from CLTPL will no longer incur an overdue fine if not returned by the due date. Books will still check out for three weeks and can be renewed twice (unless there is a hold on the item).  Once the item is past its due date, you will not be charged an overdue fine.

What about the overdue fines I already have on my account?  Gone. Buh-bye. The overdue fines from CLTPL have been waived, giving our patrons a fresh start!  You may still have overdue fines incurred from other libraries on your account, or fees for lost materials, however. These we cannot waive.

Does that mean I still have to return my books?  Yep! It is still important that patrons strive to return their materials by the due date.  This allows as many people as possible to enjoy those items as well.

What happens if I don’t return my items at all? Now, when your item becomes overdue for 28 days, it will be considered lost and you will be charged for the replacement cost of the item, plus a $10 processing fee.  Also, if you have 15 items overdue from CLTPL, your account will be blocked until some items are returned.

Yikes- I’ve been charged for a lost item and I just found it!  What can I do now? When you return the lost item to the library, the lost book charge and the processing fee will be removed from your account.

Are ALL Evergreen Libraries now fine free? No, which means if you have checked out items at another Evergreen library, that library may still charge you an overdue fine. Keep an eye on your due dates! Patron accounts must be below $10 to continue to check out items. Patrons may pay fines and fees at any Evergreen library.
